Problem

A large-scale container terminal was operating with fragmented maintenance workflows, inconsistent asset tracking, and limited data visibility across equipment and workflow operations. Without a centralized view of maintenance performance and asset status, operational decisions were reactive rather than data-driven; creating delays, inefficiencies, and reporting gaps across the terminal

My Role

Embedded within the operations team at one of Canada's largest port terminals, I led maintenance optimization and asset management initatives, combining project coordination with hands-on data analysis to drive measurable improvements in terminal efficiency, reporting accuracy, and system adoption.

Key Actions

• Led maintenance workflow optimization initatives using IBM Maximo, identifying process gaps, and redesigning workflows to reduce response times and improve maintenance scheduling across the terminal

• Designed and deployed Power BI KPI dashboards monitoring equipment performance, maintenance response times, and workflow utilization providing operations leaders real-time visibility to enable faster, evidence-based decisions

• Conducted annual asset inventory audits across the full terminal operation, achieving 95% asset tracking accuracy and implementing data governance standards to sustain reporting accuracy over time
